After a long break between games, the Millers handle North Central 3-1

The Millers were back in action tonight after a week off of games versus North Central’s C-team.

The Millers started off strong with many chances being saved or going wide of the net. The breakthrough happened off of a counter attack. Carson Mertens found space behind the NC back line off a great pass from Miles Musselman. They then struck again 23′ into the first half with a goal from Keller Willis with a great cross from Aidan Howell.

The second half saw a lot of chances go begging for the JV Gold squad. Their third goal came from a corner kick that bounced around in the box with Aidan Howell finding the net to give the Millers a 3-0 advantage. North Central ruined the Millers potential clean sheet with 1 minute to go in the game.

The Millers have another game tomorrow versus Franklin Central at home at 6pm.

Millers continue to show dominance in the HCC

The JV Gold team was at Zionsville tonight for another match of this season that is more than halfway over at this point.

The Millers started off quickly with a goal from Carson Mertens scoring in the 4′ with an assist from Caden Rice. There was a lull from both teams for quite a while, with the Millers missing many great chances throughout. They found the goal again with Caden Rice scoring with an assist from Aidan Howell about 30′ in.

The second half started off with Zionsville pressuring high and making some adjustments to make it difficult for the JV Gold team. The Millers responded by creating plenty of good chances but never scoring. Zionsville scored twice in the span of about 3 minutes to tie the game up with about 10′ left in the game.

Luckily, the Millers responded well with Freshman Korey Klimek finding the back of the net in the 33′. Then 1 minute later, Carson Mertens found the goal as well to give the Millers a 4-2 lead. The fourth goal was assisted by Keller Willis.

The Millers play one game next week versus Franklin Central at home.

Millers lose their 2nd game of the 2021 campaign, this time to rival Carmel

The Millers were back in action tonight against a county rival, Carmel. It was played at the beautiful field at the Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.

The first half was dead even between both teams. Defenders Deklan Jenski, Jake Hall, and midfielder Owen Ott had great halves. They controlled the ball and created a lot of chances for the Millers.

The second half started off well for the Millers, with shots on goal and some sorely missed chances by the Millers attack. The Carmel breakthrough came about 20′ into the second half as they broke down the Millers defense for the first time of the match. As they team pressed to equalize, Carmel scored a second off of a corner kick.

They are playing again on Wednesday at Zionsville.

Millers get another HCC victory against Westfield

The Millers were back in action tonight against a tough opponent, the Westfield Shamrocks. It was a tough contest played well by both teams.

Your JV Gold team got stunned early by Westfield with a goal in the 3′ that barely got by the Noblesville goalkeeper. However, the Millers started to dominate possession and create chances. Freshman Caden Rice found the back of the net for a tap-in after a great buildup involving both Keller Willis and Carson Mertens. However, the tie did not last for long with Westfield scoring again in the 30′ minute to get their advantage back.

The second half had the Millers dominating possession and creating plenty of good, goal-scoring chances. The tying goal came 7′ into the second half with Carson Mertens finding the back of the net. The Millers kept the pressure up high, creating multiple chances. Midfielders Owen Ott and Blake Horn dominated the Westfield midfield and made a huge difference in the game overall. Defender Jacob Lysiuk stepped up and shut down Westfield’s attacking threats.

The breakthrough for the Millers came at the best time for them, in the final minute of the match. The Millers found Carson Mertens on the wing with a beautiful through ball. He then crossed the ball to Miles Musselman’s left foot, who found the back of the net to win the game.

The Millers are up against another tough opponent Monday, facing off against Carmel at Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.

Pink Out Night had lots of goals and huge W

The JV Gold team was up against Center Grove this evening for their annual Pink-out game to support the Megan S. Ott foundation. This foundation provides local direct support to families as they battle with breast cancer in their lives, please consider researching the foundation and contributing to its cause.

The Millers started off quickly with two goals from Freshman Carson Mertens, both assisted by Keller Willis in both the 4′ and 15′ of the match. Later on, Mertens earned a first half hat trick assisted by Jacob Lysiuk. However, Center Grove did not back down, and responded with two goals of their own to end the half 3-2 in the Millers favor.

The second half the Millers continued putting on offensive pressure. Freshman Keller Willis scored unassisted in both the 40′ and 48′ to give the team a 4-2 advantage. Later on, Jacob Lysiuk sealed the game with a goal of his own, assisted by Deklan Jenski who was controlling the midfield throughout the game.

Defenders Hudson Earley and Jake Hall both controlled the defensive side of the field to keep the pressure on Center Grove for the rest of the match.

The Millers are now 6-1 as they take on a very tough match against Westfield tomorrow, 9/8, at 6:15pm.

Millers start off Labor Day Weekend strong with a W over North Central

The Millers were up against North Central this Saturday. It was a downpour throughout the whole game which lead to some tough conditions throughout.

However, the JV Gold team bolted out of the gate, scoring in the first minute of the match. Keller Willis scored a gorgeous goal from outside the box, assisted by freshman multi-athlete Carson Mertens. The Millers kept the pressure up, winning the battle of possession and found the back of the net again in the 13′ with a goal from Caden Rice, assisted again by freshman Mertens. Goalkeeper Dugan Webster made a couple key stops in the first half to keep the Millers clean sheet.

The second half started off incredibly well for the Millers again. In the 36′ a well-taken corner from Owen Ott caused a North Central own goal to give the Millers a 3-0 advantage. Throughout the half, the Miller backline held solid with freshman Jake Hall leading them throughout. 9′ into the second half, the JV Gold team found their fourth and final goal from Carson Mertens, assisted by Aidan Howell.

The clean sheet was kept by goalkeepers Dugan Webster and Caedmon Foster. The Millers are now 5-1 on the season and have two matches this upcoming week versus Center Grove and Westfield.

Millers lose a heartbreaker against rival Fishers

JV Gold was up against Fishers for the second time this evening. They were at Fishers high school and played on their Varsity game field.

The first half started off fairly evenly with both teams having a few good chances here and there. There weren’t all too many chances overall. Freshman Miles Musselman created many chances through his hard work and tenacity.

The second half was more of the same, with Fishers finding the back of the net about 15 minutes into the second half. The Millers had multiple chances to tie it up, but couldn’t find the net and lost their first game of the season.

They are back in action this Saturday against North Central at 12pm.

Millers defeat Roncalli 3-0 to say unbeaten on the season

The Millers were back in action today against Roncalli from the South side of Indianapolis.

The JV Gold team started off quickly from a corner from Deklan Jenski so well taken that it caused an own goal from Roncalli to put the Millers up 1-0. Then, 1′ later, 6 minutes into the game, Keller Willis scored from the corner of the box with an assist from Caden Rice. The Millers had a plethora of chances following this, but weren’t able to find the back of the net until 33′ into the game. Freshman Blake Horn found the left side netting off of a beautiful pass from Deklan Jenski.

The second half was largely uneventful, with the Millers missing many good chances. However, the defense held solid and kept the shutout. This improves the Millers to 4-0 on the season.

They’re back in action tomorrow against Avon at 530pm.

Coach Doering gets first ever victory over Carmel 1-0

The Millers were at the Carmel Greyhounds at their River Road complex this evening for a battle between two soccer powerhouses.

JV Gold started off slowly, but made their way into the game slowly but surely. The first half was an even affair with multiple shots being saved by each of the goalies. Defender Jake Hall had a shot saved right on the line by the Carmel goalkeeper from a well earned free kick. Midfielders Owen Ott and Blake Horn both contributed for the entire 70 minutes with some vital stops throughout the game.

The second half started to see things get chippy between the two teams with a handful of yellow cards being handed out throughout. However, five minutes into the second half, attacker Carson Mertens found the back of the net as the ball went right through the goalies hands.

The Millers kept defending for most of the second half as the pressure wore on. Goalie Caedmon Foster played the entire game making some incredible saves and keeping the Millers in the game multiple times.

JV Gold improves to 3-0 on the season with two more games this week to test their season. Come out and support them at home on Wednesday and Thursday versus Roncalli and Avon.

Millers prevail 9-0 over intra-city rival Guerin Catholic

Your Millers were up against Guerin Catholic tonight at the Hallmark Orthodontics soccer complex in Noblesville tonight.

The Millers started off quickly with 4 goals in the first 15 minutes of the match. Those four were shared two a piece with Miles Musselman and Keller Willis each getting two. After the quick 4 goals, the Millers were held off a little bit but had another breakthrough from Freshman Caedmon Todd assisted by Korey Klimek.

The second half saw more of the same with another goal from Todd, a goal from Mason Presits, and two goals from Myles Kraft. At that point the score was 9-0 and the JV Gold team triggered a mercy rule and the game ended early.

The Miller defense was solid and so were both their goalies with the few attempts they had against them.

Strong start to the 2021 season as JV Gold beats bitter rival Fishers 1-0

The JV Gold team started their season off on the right foot tonight versus Fishers. The Millers were on the front foot for most of the first half with continued pressure in the attacking third. Defender Jake Hall held down the back and shut down any and all Fishers attack.

The breakthrough for the Millers came 25′ into the first half with a goal from Freshman Jacob Lysiuk. It was assisted by defender Deklan Jenski who found Jacob at the top of the box with a cool finish into the corner of the goal.

The second half was more of the same, with multiple shots from Carson Mertens and Miles Musselman. However, the Millers could not find the back of the net. Goalies Caedmon Foster and Dugan Webster kept a clean sheet along with the Miller Defense.

The Millers are back in action tomorrow afternoon versus Guerin Catholic at 5pm.
