JV Gold earns a hard fought 2-2 draw with rival Brownsburg

The long week of road games, with 3 games in 4 days, caught up to the good guys in black and gold versus Brownsburg.  After a quick start and 2 goals in the first half, we gave up 2 in the second half to end in a tie.

Left back and MOTM Will Chreist, along with right back Alex Jimenez kept the home team under control and ran down several long balls to prevent mayhem.  Captain and center back Adrian Dugarte, along with Garrett Wilensky and substitute Sebastian Dixon did a good job on defense.

Uncharacteristically, keepers Cooper Cass and Mason Andrews had some work to do yesterday.  While not under intense pressure, they had to keep on their toes more than past games.

Our first goal came early with Rylen Jenski turning the corner on the right side and slid a nice pass across the goal mouth to a waiting Sebastian Campuzano, who scored his 3rd goal in 4 games.  Jack Nelson finished the scoring for the home team later in the half, his 4th goal of the season.

The second half was not as favorable to the Millers.  Less energy in holding the ball and closing down opponents gave Brownsburg the opportunity to score, doing so twice in quick succession.

Late in the game Brayden Pigott barely missed a heroic finish, pinging one off the post after dispossessing a Brownsburg player, turning quickly and unleashing a powerful shot.  Nice effort and oh so close!

After 7 games in the first three weeks of the season, we have 14 points of a possible 21, winning 4, drawing 2 and losing one.  Goals For tally to 14 and Goals Against come to 9, for +5 goal differential.  Solid overall, but room for improvement.  Three of our for wins came with clean sheets; kudos to the entire defensive unit including Keagan Rolinson, a steady presence at the key defensive midfield role.
