After dominating game, JV Gold comes away with a draw against Zionsville

JV Gold were ascendant in the first half, with a number of good chances and took a 1 – 0 advantage into halftime.

10 minutes in, a nice through ball from Brayden Pigott to Jack Nelson looked to open the scoring.  A slight touch by the Zville keeper unfortunately kept out the toe poke by Nelson.

In the 22nd minute, a free kick from the right corner was placed perfectly onto Rylen Jenski’s head by Will Chreist.  Only the crossbar kept Rylen from his 4th goal of the season.  Just a few minutes later Chreist made an overlapping run and crossed into Ace Musselman, whose shot went just wide.

Jenski didn’t have to wait much longer for his 4th, as a very nicely placed free kick from 22 yards out nicked the inside of the post on the way in.

For the 3rd or 4th time, just after the break, Jenski turned the corner on the right side a placed a great cross into the goal mouth, where Asher Hampton aggressively pursued the ball and knocked it in.  Jenski earned MOTM honors with his goal and assist.

The remainder of the 2nd half was not as kind to the good guys. Zville pressed harder and had the ball in our final third for much longer periods than in the first half.

In the 46th minute, Gold was dispossessed at midfield and a long through ball got behind our backline.  The 1 v 1 with Mason Andrews ended with a Zville goal. The remaining 25 minutes had us on our heels and few good scoring opportunities.

At the hour mark, a questionable PK was given as a Zville player tripped (seemingly over his own feet) at the edge of the box.  The spot kick was converted, evening the match.

In the final minute, a great corner kick by Chase Musgrove sailed into the Zville goal mouth, only to be wasted with no Gold player making the effort to head the ball in.
